Type of Grant

Travel/accommodation support to visit a CF Centre or CF laboratory in Europe to learn a specific technique. These fellowships are not applicable for attendance at ECFS conferences, meetings or sponsored courses where different terms apply.

Who can apply?

  • Applicant must be an active ECFS member
  • Applicant must be under 35 years of age
  • Applicant must be working in a European CF Centre/Laboratory

Application Deadlines
1 April For visits taking place between 1 July and 31 October
1 August For visits taking place between 1 November and end February
1 December For visits taking place between 1 March and 30 June

Note: A maximum of 9 fellowships will be available per deadline

There is a maximum of 750 Euro per person per grant and only one fellowship per person per 2 years is permissible.

The applicant must fully justify the financial need and confirm that the same funding is not being claimed from another source.  The specific training to be undertaken is to be included in the Application Form, and the applicant must provide a statement on the beneficial impact the technique(s) learned will make for the applicant’s affiliated CF Centre/CF laboratory. 

The following supporting documentation is required: 

  • Applicant’s CV
  • Letter from the applicant’s Institution/Principal Investigator supporting the action
  • Copy of document with the applicant’s Date of Birth (Passport, Identity Card, etc.)
  • Acceptance letter from the hosting hospital or laboratory confirming the visit and type of training to be given.

All submissions will be acknowledged and will be allocated an ECFS Grant ID reference.   Applications will be reviewed by the ECFS Grants Review Committee thus applying for a grant is not a guarantee of funding. The typical grant review timeline is 4 weeks.  Formal notification of all decisions of the ECFS Grants Review Committee will be sent by email to Applicant.

Expenses (up to 750 Euro) will be covered on a refund basis, i.e. they will only be made against a claim form, to include receipts, submitted to the ECFS following the activity, together with a report on the activity.  No advance payments are permissible.

The ECFS reserves the right to publish information about approved grants.
