Post-doctoral Fellow in Cystic Fibrosis Research
Applications are invited from PhD qualified researchers to undertake a 2 years research project starting the 1st of October 2011, into the pro-resolution actions of lipid mediators in cyctic fibrosis (CF) airway epithelium.
CF is the most common inherited disease in Ireland affecting 1:1,350 live births. The most common CF genetic mutation causes a disturbance in ion transport in the lung which results in virulent bacterial infection, chronic inflammation and lung destruction. This project will examine the potential therapeutic actions of lipoxin, LXA4 and the mechanism of LXA4 synthesis in the airway of patients with CF. The successful candidate will work with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians and scientists based at the National Children’s Research Centre.
