Article 3 of the ECFS Constitution on Membership

ECFS President Elect

The President is the senior officer within the Society. He or she provides the leadership required to ensure that the society fulfils the mission statement: The European Cystic Fibrosis Society is an international community of scientific and clinical professionals committed to improving survival and quality of life for people with CF by promoting high quality research, education and care.

Dear Colleagues,

In our constitution, we have an election for a President Elect one year prior to the current President’s end of term.  This enables smooth handover of one year.  We have received one application for President Elect and subsequently President of the ECFS sent by Prof. Jane Davies from Imperial college, London.
I anticipate you all know she is a paediatrician with many years of experience in CF and an international clinical scientist with a high level of experience in clinical trials. Her work has supported the development of new treatments in CF, including the validation of endpoints to assess the effectiveness of those therapies. Jane is also dedicated to the development of the next generation of CF clinical teams, ensuring they are responsive to the changing CF population. Jane has been involved in ECFS activities for many years. She leads the Lung Clearance Index Laboratory of the ECFS-CTN. She was a member of the Scientific Committee and the Steering Committee of the European Cystic Fibrosis Conference, and she was Conference President in 2019. She is Deputy Editor of the Journal of Cystic Fibrosis. She is also an ECFS Board member and the ECFS Vice-President.
In our constitution, and  in the interest of democracy, we do require to have a vote on Jane Davies’ application.  There is an opportunity if anyone wishes to express a NO vote to Jane in the voting system. It is very important for us in the Society to clearly express our support for those elected and appointed to lead the Society and I would be very grateful if you would take the time to express your opinion on Jane’ s application.

Many thanks.

Yours sincerely,

Isabelle Fajac

ECFS President

Dear Colleagues,

The European Cystic Fibrosis Society Board has two vacancies this year.  Prof. Dorota Sands and Dr. Carsten Schwarz finish their terms and I wish to express my deepest thanks to both for their contribution to the Board over the past 3 years.  As you all know, the last couple of years were very special and we were lucky for their continued commitment to the Society.

We have received nominations for four senior figures of the CF community.

Please read their short summaries carefully, consider their potential contributions and vote accordingly.

The Board should represent the ECFS membership in all aspects of our activities and should be drawn from a number of different European countries and reflect important areas of our activity.

The Society needs you to vote in large numbers so that your support for those elected and appointed to lead the Society is clearly expressed.

Many thanks.

Yours sincerely,

Isabelle Fajac

ECFS President
