General information


All accepted abstracts are published in the abstract book and on the abstract USB. The abstract book can be found in your Conference bag.

To receive your complimentary USB of the ECFS Conference abstracts, please go to the Vertex booth 10. The abstract USB is generously supported by the company Vertex Pharmaceuticals (Europe) Limited.


Please visit the hotel counter in the registration area if you wish to book a hotel room or if you have any problem with your hotel reservation.


Exchanges offices are open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 20:00 and they are located in the main entrance of the Sava Centar (close to the registration). There are two cash machines inside the Sava Centar.

ADVICE: Exchange your money at numerous exchange offices in Belgrade but read carefully the daily course (exchange rates) of Serbian dinar, which is often written on the paper and stuck to the window of exchange offices.


The Belgrade Information Point is located next to the Registration at the entrance of the Sava Centar.

Two catering areas are at your disposal within the Exhibition Area. They are open on Thursday and Friday from 08:30 to 18:00, and Saturday from 09:00 to 11:00. There you can purchase sandwiches and desserts as well as beverages. Payment can be made in cash (Serbian Dinar) or by credit card.

A Lunch Area where you can have a warm meal is at your disposal close to the entrance. It is open on Thursday and Friday from 11:30 to 15:00.


After the Conference, you will receive an email inviting you to log into our platform to download your certificate. They cannot be issued during the Conference, only after the Conference.


CME Certificate

In order to receive CME credits for your Conference participation you have to make sure that your badge is scanned every day at the entrance (close to the Registration or when you come from the Crowne Plaza). You will receive an email the last day

of the Conference containing a link to evaluate the Conference online and download your certificate(s). To download your certificate(s), please fill in the survey, click on the link written on the last page of the survey and then log in with your login

and password sent in the email. You can then download your certificate(s).


The CF Innovation Zone offers a lively, interactive experience to all participants demonstrating solutions, applications and technologies inside a dedicated and attractive space at the ECFS 2018 Conference. In this zone, ECFS offers the chance

to start-ups and innovative companies to showcase their exciting new solutions in technology and health. Companies will be able to display their products and prototypes at the entrance of the Exhibition. A great opportunity to connect with talented people, open your mind to new possibilities and feel inspired!

This CF Innovation Zone is located on the level 0. Presentations of the start-ups exhibiting in the CF Innovation Zone are scheduled on Thursday, June 7 from 10:00 to 10:30 in the ePoster Corner A.


The 41st European Cystic Fibrosis Conference, Belgrade, Serbia, 6 – 9 June 2018 has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®), with 16 European CME credits (ECMEC®s). Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Through an agreement between the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Information on the

process to convert EACCME credit to AMA credit can be found at

Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognised by the UEMS-EACCME® for ECMEC®s are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.


The Closing Ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 9 from 12:30 to 13:00.


The Cloakroom is located near the Registration Counter, on Level 0 of the Conference Venue. The charge is € 2 or 200 Serbian Dinar per checked item.

Profits will be donated to the Serbian CF Association.

The Conference Bag, containing the conference material, can be obtained at the Conference Material Counter next to the Registration Counter. A voucher for the Conference Bag is attached to your badge.


In consideration of all conference participants, mobile phones should be turned off in all session rooms. Conference participants are expected also to refrain from the following:

1) Inicting personal threat or harm to any conference participant, exhibitor or staff

2) Inflicting damage to any property

3) Preventing speakers from giving their presentations


The ECFS discourages individuals with CF to attend the conference as a bug free environment cannot be guaranteed. If individuals with CF decide to attend the conference despite this recommendation, we kindly ask them to report to the

registration counter. ECFS advises they show consideration to others by sticking the little rose provided at the registration counter on their name badge.

In case a person with CF is a member of the Faculty, ECFS takes the safety of the individual at heart. The Faculty member will be informed of the cross-infection policy and a sign will be posted on the room door of the sessions at which this Faculty

member is presenting.


The currency of Serbia is the Serbian dinar (RSD).

Serbian Dinar exchange rate is approximatively:

1 EURO for about 120 RSD;

1 US Dollar for about 107 RSD;

1 Canadian Dollar for about 82 RSD;

1 British Pound equals about 167 RSD.

All ECFS members are invited and encouraged to attend the ECFS Annual General Meeting on Friday, June 8 from 18:30 to 19:30 in Annex B.


Each year, several special interest cystic fibrosis groups hold their meetings in conjunction with the conference. You can find them in the Meetings section of the Final Programme.


The ECFS Tomorrow initiative is specially geared towards assembling those who are interested in building their future career in the cystic fibrosis community and the ECFS of tomorrow. Located on the Mezzanine in the Exhibition, the ECFS Tomorrow

Lounge will feature interactive workshops on Thursday and Friday. Come and take an active part in the discussions on different aspects of cystic fibrosis management and care.


An ePoster is an electronic version of the traditional paper poster which is displayed on a computer or mobile device. You will be able to consult the ePoster by using one of the computers in the ePosters area located within the Exhibition.

ePosters can be viewed any time during the conference and will also be available on the ECFS website after the conference for ECFS members.

The ePosters are indexed by topic and you will have the possibility to post messages to the authors of the ePosters.

Please note that abstracts selected for oral presentation in workshops will only be available as ePosters.


ePoster corner A and B are located within the Exhibition Area on the ground floor. ePoster Corner C is located close to the Amphitheatre.


All accepted abstracts are published as ePosters on the ePoster platform. You will receive, after the ECFS Conference, a login and a password to have access online to all ePosters.


The conference organiser, the European Cystic Fibrosis Society (ECFS), will be present during the conference with a booth located in the CF Community Area in the Exhibition Area. Here you can obtain information about the Society and become an

ECFS Member.


Conference participants are invited to visit the Exhibition located on level 0. The Exhibition will feature commercial exhibitors and will be open during the following hours:

Out of respect for speakers’ copyright, it is forbidden to take pictures and/or to film during any session.


The First Aid is located on level 0 close to the Hall 2 and is open from 8:00 – 19:00 from Wednesday to Saturday.


ECFS is taking its environmental responsibilities seriously and is committed to ensuring that it minimises the effect which the ECFS Conference has on the environment and has taken proactive steps. 


The European Cystic Fibrosis Society and the ECFS Conference Secretariat do not accept any liability for personal injury, loss of or damage to belongings of conference participants, either during or as a result of the conference. Please check the validity of your own insurance.


The official conference language is English.


Lost items can be collected at the cloakroom during the conference. Any objects found during the conference and not claimed will remain at the Conference Venue.


A badge is required for admittance to all official conference sessions and events, as well as the Exhibition and Poster Area. Each participant is asked to present the badge in order to gain access to the conference. The badge must be clearly displayed. Lost name badges can be replaced at the registration counter

for a fee.


Three Networking Areas can be found in the Exhibition Area. There you will find electricity connections to charge electronic devices. It is also a space to network with other participants.

The Networking Areas are generously supported by Gilead.


The Opening Plenary on Wednesday, June 6 will take place from 18:30 to 20:00. It will be followed by a Welcome Reception from 20:00 to 21:30 in the Exhibition Area. Both events are free of charge to all registered participants.


The Poster Area is located on the Lower Level of the Exhibition Area and is open from Wednesday 18:00 to Saturday 11:00.


Poster Presenters are asked to be available at their poster according to the timetable which can be found here.


The Organiser cannot assume liability for any changes in the Conference Programme due to external or unforeseen circumstances. Please consult the ECFS Conference App for the latest updates.


Belgrade has an excellent public transport system with stops directly in front of the congress center. Belgrade’s trams and buses make it easy to move around the city.

A transportation card is included in the registration. Public transportation cards will be distributed onsite. The card can be used on buses, trams and trolley busses in Belgrade only.

It is always best if you order taxi by phone since your order will be saved in the operator database. Taxi fares are regulated by the government and are as follows: RSD170 to start a ride, RSD65-85 per kilometer (depending on time of day) and

RSD12.5 per minute waiting time. Be sure to choose a taxi with a roof sign with the city coat of arms and a number, indicating it's a city-regulated radio taxi.

Legal taxis must have their license plates ending with TX.


Young European Investigators under the age of 35, registered for a PhD or Post-Graduate Degree or graduated within 12 months of their date of application to the grant, are eligible to be considered for an ECFS Travel Grant.

This year, the ECFS has awarded 18 Travel Grants. The Travel Grant Award consists of a monetary grant of € 300, a free registration to the conference and a 2018 ECFS Membership subscription.


The Young Investigator Awards recognise outstanding and promising work by investigators under the age of 35 who have submitted an abstract to the ECFS Conference. This year, the ECFS has awarded 3 Young Investigator Awards. The Young Investigator Award consists of a monetary grant of €750, a free registration to the conference and a 2018 ECFS Membership subscription.
