Sweat test hands-on session 2026 (pre-ECFS conference workshop)

Wednesday 3rd June 2026, 16:00 - 18:00

Lisbon, Portugal

Location: Centro de Congressos de Lisboa (CCL), Sala 3C

This session is an ECFS-Diagnostic Network Working Group (DNWG) initiative.

The ECFS-DNWG sweat test project aims at improving the quality of the performance of sweat testing in established and emerging CF services, including lower- and middle-income countries (LMIC) in and outside Europe.

The first step in this project, a European Survey, showed important variation with respect to sweat collection, analysis and interpretation of the results, but also important variation in equipment available in European CF centres to perform a diagnostic sweat test. [1]

Subsequently, a "Standards of care guidance for sweat testing" was developed, aiming to provide a pragmatic real-world document for sweat testing in CF centres at geographically dispersed locations. [2]

This hands-on session is the third phase in the "Sweat test project". The aim is to support centres and help in problem solving to achieve acceptable standards for good sweat testing practice in their CF centre. The session will focus on the Macroduct® Advanced sweat induction and collection system, and the ChloroChek® Chloridometer® for analysis.

What to expect?

  • A short theoretical introduction on sweat testing: technique, practical information and interpretation
  • Participants will be able to perform a sweat test (iontophoresis, collection, analysis) in real life under the supervision of an expert in the field. Participants will be requested to act as 'subject' and 'performer'
  • Printed hand-outs, demonstrating each step, will be provided
  • Sessions will be led in English and Dutch
  • A certificate of attendance will be provided at the end of the session.

Who can register?
