City of Brest
The historic port of Brest lies on a stunning peninsula, a wondrous example of the harmony between land and sea. Formed by eight communities and housing numerous treasures, "Brest Métropole Océane" offers religious, civil and military history, mixed with a glorious maritime past. Brest has a population of over 380,000 in the city proper while the whole of Western Brittany has about one million inhabitants. It harbours the head office of the French Navy and is one of the leaders in European marine sciences.
Discover Brest and its surroundings situated at the land's end. This charming area offers many interesting possibilities: Celtic-inspired folklore, the Castle and the Tour Tanguy, curious menhirs, ancient forts, lighthouses, lovely fresh seafood and of course world-famous crêpes.
Enjoy and experience the feel of the ocean in one of the most famous port cities in Europe. Brest plays host to major attractions such as Océanopolis, an ocean discovery park, and a first class programme of events.
