Travel Grants and Free Registration

For Young Researchers, there will be a limited number of travel grants and also the possibility for free registration for Student Helpers.

Novartis Young Fellows Travel Awards

A limited number of Novartis Young Fellows Travel Awards (Euro 250) will be distributed among participants under the age of 35 (PhD students or post-docs) submitting abstracts to the conference.  The award scheme is applicable for all the abstract categories. The application for such an award can be made as part of the online abstract submission process.

Recipients of these awards will be selected among eligible candidates based on the merit of the work presented as well as on a balanced country/laboratory distribution.  All applications for the Novartis Young Fellows Travel Award are required to be supported by a letter from the Head of Department which is to be submitted at the same time as the abstract.  The letter should be sent to the ECFS office (info@ecfs.eu) and should include:
- Subject: Novartis Young Fellows Travel Award
- The Applicants's Name
- Institution and Department
- Date of Birth
- Title of the abstract being submitted

Notification of the awards will be made prior to the early registration date of 8 March 2010.


Student Helpers - Free Registration

A limited number of free registrations will be made available for students under the age of 30 who submit abstracts and who are willing to assist at the conference.  Tasks include meeting delegates at the airport, assisting at the Registration Desk, assisting invited speakers with presentation preparation, microphone duties during Question/Answer sessions, etc. The application for free registration can be made as part of the online submission process.  All applications for Student Helper Free Registrations are required to be supported by a letter from the Head of Department which is to be submitted at the same time as the abstract (deadline for submission 8 February 2010).  The letter should be sent to the ECFS Office (info@ecfs.eu) and should include the following:

- Subject: Student Helper - Free Registration
- The Applicant's name
- The Institution and Department where the student is located.
- Date of Birth
- Title of the Abstract submitted

Notification of the waiver to the registration fee will be made prior to the early registration date of 8 March 2010.

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust offers Conference Travel Grants to Young Researchers in the UK attending the 2010 ECFS Basic Science Conference.  These grants will only be available to those researchers who have abstracts accepted.  The CF Trust Grants information page can be found here.

The Korner Travelling Fellowship Fund
Purpose of the fund: Fellowships are available to allow students and recently qualified postdoctoral scientists who are working in the field of gene expression (or related areas) in the U.K. or Republic of Ireland to make collaborative visits to laboratories outside these countries.
